Coming this week: It's tbt*'s 2011 Ultimate Local Music Guide!

local.music_.guides1.jpg

Normally at this time on Soundcheck, you'd be looking at a fresh new Artist of the Day. Not today, though.

Today, we're counting down to tbt*'s fifth annual Ultimate Local Music Guide, which publishes on Friday. Once again, we're shining a spotlight on more than 160 local bands, singers, rappers and DJs that we think are worth checking out in Tampa Bay. Since 2007, we've spotlighted around 600 artists in this way -- and we still find it difficult to keep up with all the great music in Tampa Bay.

Every year, we select 10 of the area's top talents as tbt*'s Ultimate Local Artists. It's always a tough task, but we think we've come up with 10 great ones for 2011. We'll roll them out one by one all week on Soundcheck -- and we'll have a special surprise for you on Friday.

In the meantime, click the followings links to flip through our music guides from 2007, 2008, 2009and 2010. And just for fun, after the jump is a roster of all tbt*'s Ultimate Local Artists from each year, starting in 2007.
