Concert of the day: Manchester Orchestra at the State Theatre
As a liaison between grunge and emo, Manchester Orchestra keeps communication flowing among unlikely parties. Once described as "music to swoon to" ‚Äî think a combo of Bright Eyes‚Äô soft woes and Nirvana‚Äôs famously frantic ways. The Georgia quintet is touring in support of new release Mean Everything to Nothing, a disc Alternative Press calls ‚Äúa masterpiece of intricacy and honesty‚Äù and ‚Äúone of the landmark releases of 2009.‚Äù Fans of Brand New and Kevin Devine will like it.
The band plays with fun. at 6 p.m. at the State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Tickets are $10.
