Dave Matthews Band returning to the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa
Dave Matthews Band have played in Tampa pretty much every year for as long as we can remember.
Except last year. Dave and company took time off from touring in 2011, which means the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre fell unusually silent for one summer night.
That won't be the case in 2012. Dave Matthews Band have unveiled their summer tour plans for this year, and they include a July 18 stop in Tampa, at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre. A pre-sale starts this Thursday, but tickets to the general public go onsale at 10 a.m. March 9. (If you're a true Dave diehard, you'll make a whole week of it. The group is also planning a two-night stand in West Palm Beach on July 20-21.)
Support has not yet been announced for the Tampa date, but on the whole, we have to say, DMB have lined up some killer opening acts for this tour -- the Avett Brothers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Brandi Carlile, the Head and the Heart, the Delta Spirit, Fitz and the Tantrums, SOJA, Carolina Chocolate Drops and more. Any of those bands would be a welcome addition to the Tampa show.
