Death Cab For Cutie coming to the House of Blues in Orlando

Your humble Soundcheck editor has two favorite bands in this world: Radiohead and Death Cab For Cutie.

And so we humbly say to Death Cab frontman Ben Gibbard: DAMMIT DUDE WHY ARE YOU COMING TO ORLANDO INSTEAD OF TAMPA?!?!?

This all stems from the decision earlier this week to cancel the Langerado Music Festival in Sunrise, which Death Cab was scheduled to headline. We were hoping the cancellation might prompt Death Cab to re-route their tour to Tampa instead, but no, they're going to Orlando. Just like they did in 2009. And 2006. Not that we keep track of such things.

But hey, at least they're still coming to Florida at all (which is more than we can say for some Langerado bands). And we're more than happy to make the trip up I-4 for the show.

Death Cab For Cutie will perform at the House of Blues on Oct. 8, with an opening act TBD. (It could be Telekinesis, which is opening for Death Cab on their upcoming tour -- but that's unlikely, since Telekinesis is also scheduled to open for the New Pornographers on Oct. 13 in Orlando. One of those shows has to give.) Tickets are $31.50, and they go onsale Saturday (9/10). Click here and here for details.
