Deftones, Dillinger Escape Plan coming to Jannus Live in St. Petersburg
Deftones are one of those bands that inspires passionate feelings. Their 2000 album White Pony is a new metal classic, and their concert last summer at the Ritz Ybor drew scores of wildly enthusiastic fans.
However, at least one reviewer of the Ybor City show (our reviewer, to be specific) thought Deftones were not up to the job at hand:
Once the music began to flow, it seemed (vocalist Chino) Moreno’s energy slowly flowed from stage as well. He seemed tired. He didn’t say much to the fans. He just seemed to want to do his job as a vocalist, eat a slice of Ybor pizza, and go to bed.
Who knows, maybe they were just having an off night. Guess we'll find out for sure in May, as it was announced today that Deftones are coming to Jannus Live. According to this, tickets are scheduled to go onsale at 10 a.m. today (3/11), and will be $32 the day of the show. Click here for details.
Even better, the opening act is legendary hardcore punk band the Dillinger Escape Plan. They were among the headliners of last summer's Warped Tour stop in St. Petersburg, and they put on one of the most energetic stage shows we'd ever seen, diving from eight-foot amp towers, thrashing around, nearly inciting a riot in the pit. They are absolutely worth the price of admission, and will be a tough act to follow.
So wake up, Chino! You've got your work cut out for you!
