Former Styx singer Dennis DeYoung is a pretty generous guy, at least with his time. A recent phone interview with the former Styx singer went on for an hour, during which DeYoung was remarkably candid and open about his entire career.

He also talked about the great Styx song Babe, and how it almost never happened.

"It was a song I wrote for my wife as a present, never intending for it to be a Styx song," he said. "Babe was a demo. The demo became the hit record, including all the background vocals, which were done by me."

DeYoung has a special concert in Tampa Bay this weekend. He'll perform the music of Styx backed by the Florida Orchestra at 8 p.m. Friday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. Tickets are $45, $65, $85. Click here.
