Doobie Brothers, Rick Springfield, Eric Church lead 2010 Ribfest lineup
Last year we thought St. Petersburg's annual Ribfest might have turned a corner, injecting its concert lineup with a few shots of younger, hipper music -- Jet, Morningwood and eventual Grammy winners Zac Brown Band.
This year? For the most part, it's back to square one.
Classic rockers like the Doobie Brothers, Rick Springfield, Grand Funk Railroad and Dave Mason lead the Friday and Saturday-night lineups, marking a return to form for Ribfest on Nov. 12-14 at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg.
The country lineup on Sunday is a little fresher, with young studs Eric Church, above, and Lee Brice topping the bill. Top-notch singer-songwriter Phil Vassar is also on the bill. And of course there's a solid slate of local artists all weekend, including Suite Caroline and Amanda Drake and the Barnburners.
Don't get us wrong; we have nothing against all the classic rockers on this year's bill. We'd like to hear some funky dixieland, too. We were just hoping the powers that be at Ribfest might continue forth in the vein of last year's younger-leaning lineup. There's always time for more acts to be added, of course. And hey, it's tough to beat those ticket prices: $10 advance, $15 at the gate.
