Elvis Costello coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
Tampa Bay missed out on a real treat when Elvis Costello initially announced dates for his Spinning Songbook tour, in which each night's setlist was determined in part by a huge spinning device he called "The Wheel."
"At each performance," Costello's website states, "select fans are invited onstage to spin the Wheel, helping to create new sets at each performance from a collection of 40 banners including hits, rarities, and a few surprises."
Fun times, right? Critics hailed each show on the tour as a brilliant night of showmanship and fan-friendliness. "Three hours of hilarity, musicality, and unabated joy," the St. Louis Post-Dispatch called it.
So it's fantastic news that Costello will apparently be bringing The Wheel to Tampa Bay.
If you're an Elvis fan, check out some of the setlists created through the Wheel on the first leg of the tour. And if you're a HUGE fan, you may also be interested to know that Costello will perform Sept. 19 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando. Tickets to that show are $35.50-$75.50, and they go onsale Friday. Odds are the setlists for both shows will be wildly different.
