Evanescence coming to the Straz Center in Tampa

Break out your black nail polish, because Evanescence is returning to Tampa.

According to their website, the gothic, operatic pop-metal outfit will perform at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts on Jan 16. Short notice, but hey, with all the turmoil surrounding Evanescence's lineup the past few years, we should probably be thankful the band exists at all. Rival Sons will open the show. Tickets are $37.50, and they go onsale Friday (12/9) at noon.

The group, which won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2004 (feels much longer ago, doesn't it?), will perform in Carol Morsani Hall. Let's hope the walls are plenty soundproof; folk singer Meg Hutchinson is booked in the Jaeb Theater that same night. Not sure how she'd fare against Amy Lee's banshee-like wail on Going Under or Bring Me To Life.
