Experience Hendrix Tour bringing Jonny Lang, Robert Randolph, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and more to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
Well, this just sounds plum awesome.
The critically hailed Experience Hendrix Tour, in which a cavalcade of all-star guitarists and musicians pay tribute to Jimi Hendrix, has announced a March 15 date at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. And if you like the blues, classic rock or anything that has to do with the electric guitar, hooboy, are you gonna love this lineup.
Among the artists scheduled to appear: Jonny Lang (above), Kenny Wayne Shephard, Robert Randolph, Aerosmith's Brad Whitford, Dweezil Zappa, The Doors' Robby Krieger, Los Lobos' David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas, Eric Johnson, the Slide Brothers, Chris Layton (of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble) and -- in perhaps the most authentic touch -- bassist Billy Cox of the Band of Gypsies and Jimi Hendrix Experience.
Yes. That's ALL IN ONE SHOW.
All night, these artists will jam on classic Hendrix songs like Little Wing, Purple Haze, Fire and Voodoo Child. And don't be surprised if a special guest or two pops in -- past Experience Hendrix shows have seen cameos by Steve Vai, Carlos Santana, Joe Satriani, Paul Rodgers and others. (Buddy Guy himself is participating in some dates on this year's tour, but he probably won't be here, considering he's headlining the Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival in February.)
Tickets are $45, $65, $85 and $100, and they're going onsale at noon on Jan. 14. Click here for more details on Clearwater's Experience Hendrix show.
