Florence and the Machine coming to Hard Rock Live in Orlando
If you watched Sunday night's Grammy Awards, you no doubt caught British singer Florence Welch's tribute to Aretha Franklin alongside Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride and Yolanda Adams. The recent Spin cover girl was one of the breakout female rock acts of 2010, and her band, Florence and the Machine, was nominated for Best New Artist.
Now you can catch Welch in person -- if you're up for a short drive, that is.
Florence and the Machine (or "Florence + The Machine," if you're feeling frisky) are coming to Orlando's Hard Rock Live on June 30, according to their official Facebook page. The date follows a June 29 gig opening for U2 at Miami's Sun Life Stadium.
Tickets are $27.50-$32.50, and they go onsale Friday (2/18) via Ticketmaster. But a limited number of presale tickets are available right now for $75, and that includes a limited-edition poster designed by Welch herself. Click here.
Florence is the latest in a long line of ethereal, belt-it-out alternative singer-songwriters (see: Apple, Fiona; Amos, Tori; Bjork [no last name given]), and the Machine's hit album Lungs has something of a cultish following, so we definitely foresee a number of Tampa Bay rock fans making the roadie up I-4 for this show.
