Gin Blossoms coming to Lowry Park Zoo

By now, you should know how we here at SoundcheckCorp. feel about alternative rock from the '90s. To refresh your memory, check here, here, here and here.

So it goes without saying that Gin Blossoms' New Miserable Experience is probably one of our 10 favorite albums of all time. Not once in our lives have we even remotely lost interest in Found Out About You or Allison Road. Throw in later singles like Follow You Down, Til I Hear It From You and Learning The Hard Way, and this is a '90s act that has the official Soundcheck Seal of Approval (patent pending).

So it feels a little weird that to tell you that Gin Blossoms are coming to ... Lowry Park Zoo.

Yes, the Hey Jealousy rockers are headlining Zoofari, the Tampa zoo's annual food and drinks festival. The event is 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 6, and tickets start at $75. Click here for details.

So ... one of our favorite bands from high school is headlining a food festival in Florida. Is this what Ribfest feels like to people who grew up in the '70s and '80s? Does this mean My Chemical Romance will be headlining food festivals in 20 years? It's a little sad, but this might be a nominee for Soundcheck's coveted WTF Concert of the Year trophy.

Even sadder, we might just be there with bells on.
