Glen Campbell coming to the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater

There has been an outpouring of support for country singer-songwriter Glen Campbell since June, when it was announced he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease. After announcing plans for a farewell tour, the singer appeared at the 2011 CMAs, where he was celebrated in a tribute by Vince Gill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley.

Now, sadly, that long-promised farewell tour is coming to reality. But at least Tampa Bay music fans will have one more chance to hear Campbell.

The Country Music Hall of Famer will perform at Clearwater's intimate Capitol Theatre on March 22. Tickets start at $75, and they'll go onsale at noon Dec. 17. Opening the show will be Instant People, featuring Campbell's children Cal, Shannon and Ashley. Click here for details.

In recent years, there has been a resurgence in appreciation for Campbell's talents on songs like Galveston, Wichita Lineman and Rhinestone Cowboy. We can't imagine this show won't sell out. In fact, we wish they'd move it to Ruth Eckerd Hall, so more fans will have the chance to say goodbye to a songwriting legend.
