Great White cancel Jannus Live concert on Oct. 8
The other day we saw a newspaper ad that said the Oct. 8 Great White concert at Jannus Live had been canceled "due to (singer) Jack Russell's illness." This struck us as odd, because the concert was still listed on JannusLive.com, and tickets were still on sale through Ticketmaster.
But today we've confirmed it: Great White have canceled their concert next month at Jannus Live. Venue spokesman Eric Snider said they tried to renegotiate the date, but nothing came of it.
The reason for the cancellation? Russell suffered a perforated bowel in August, and is out of commission for a couple of months. But that hasn't stopped his Great White bandmates from forging on without him. They've replaced him with Jani Lane of Warrant, who will handle lead duties on a number of shows this fall, including Great White gigs on Oct. 9 in Sanford and Oct. 10 in Melbourne.
For those keeping score at home: Sean Paul, Big Boi, Grupo Mania and now Great White have all canceled concerts at the new and improved Jannus Live. And we're not even counting the Flaming Lips show, which was postponed from May to October. In almost every case, it really does seem like Jannus isn't to blame ... but still, that's a rough run of bad luck.
