The Gregory Brothers, Dave Days lead 'Digitour 2011' at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg
They’ve conquered YouTube. But can they conquer meatspace?
That’s the question we must ask now that we know The Gregory Brothers, a.k.a. the dudes behind Auto-Tune the News, are going on tour.
The Gregorys are among the headliners of The Digitour 2011, a traveling roadshow of musicians plucked from YouTube, that’s scheduled to hit the State Theatre in St. Petersburg on May 13.
Joining them are Dave Days, the wildly popular YouTube parodist whose video “OMG! This girl is sooo hot!” has been viewed some 44.6 million times; rapper DeStorm, singer-songwriters David Choi and Ricky Ficarelli and Mystery Guitar Man; and others. All of them are legit musicians -- the Gregory Brothers were a band before Auto-Tune the News hit big -- so this seems like a pretty reasonable tour.
Now, there are a few caveats. It’s not clear yet whether all of these artists are performing on every date of the tour. Mystery Gutiar Man, for example, is missing the St. Petersburg date from his Facebook calendar. And individual tickets are not on sale yet, so keep an eye out. Or subscribe to the Digitour's YouTube channel.
But we do know that some ticket packages are on sale now through the Digitour website. For $24.99 to $69.99, you can buy a package that includes goodies ranging from a collectible laminate to backstage access. Click here to purchase.
So yes, on the whole, details are kind of sketchy at the moment. But hey, guess what? The Internet's kind of sketchy, too. We're guessing these guys wouldn't have it any other way.
