Hangout Music Fest lineup: Tom Petty, Kings of Leon, Trey Anastasio, the Shins and more

It's not Ultra. It's not Wanee. It's not DeLuna Fest.

But just across the Florida state line sits Gulf Shores, Ala., home to what has quickly become one of the top music festivals in the country: The Hangout Music Fest, which this year runs May 17-19 along the Gulf of Mexico.

On Wednesday, Hangout unveiled its 2013 lineup: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Kings of Leon are the first two headliners, with one more coming soon. Trey Anastasio Band, The Shins, Kendrick Lamar, Bassnectar, the Roots, the Black Crowes, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Gov't Mule, Steve Aoki, moe., Jim James and many more.

Even if Tampa music fans aren't up for the roadie to Alabama, they should take stock of this lineup. Usually, whenever there's a music festival in the southeast, at least one or two acts from the bill will also pass through Tampa Bay. Last year, for example, Wilco and Chris Cornell both came through Tampa Bay within a week of Hangout. This year, Slightly Stoopid already has a show booked at Jannus Live in May.

While we'd be pretty stoked to get a show from Tom Petty or the Shins (and, hey, don't Kings of Leon owe us a concert?), we think we might have better luck a little farther down on the bill. Jason Isbell and 400 Unit, Moon Taxi and The Bright Light Social Hour are all decent bets for Tropical Heatwave, which is scheduled for May 10-11.

Tickets to the 2013 Hangout Music Fest go onsale here on Friday.
