Harry Connick Jr. coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
Harry Connick Jr. has had plenty of time to get acquainted with the Tampa Bay area in the past year.
As one of the stars of Dolphin Tale, the family-friendly film about of Winter the tail-less dolphin, Connick spent several weeks filming in and around Clearwater Marine Aquarium, even going to a Bucs game in October. It also gave him plenty of time to hone his acting chops alongside veteran actors like Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman.
"The way musicians think, especially jazz musicians, and the way actors think is really different," Connick told tbt*'s Steve Persall in December."It's funny because what we're doing is not that different in a sense; you take material and you interpret it. It's art and it's creative and it's spontaneous.
"But a jazz musician doesn't go on stage thinking: 'How am I going to play this solo, or do this or do that?' All the preparation has been done and then you just go out and play."
Well, soon enough, Connick will start playing again. According to Ruth Eckerd Hall's website, Connick will perform in Clearwater on April 8. Tickets are $50-$115, and they're scheduled to go onsale at noon Friday. Click here for the latest.
