Heading to the Bear Creek Music Festival? Here's a guide

If you like hemp, patchouli and interminable guitar and keyboard solos, we bet you're heading up to Live Oak next week for the annual Bear Creek Music & Art Festival.

Among this year's headliners: moe. (above), Umphrey's McGee, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk and Maceo Parker. Tampa's own Cope is among the familiar names on the bill.

The festival is Nov. 12-14 at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, about 25 miles west of Lake City just off Interstate 10. Tickets are $155, which includes first-come, first-served primitive camping (there are plenty of spots). This is not your typical crowded festival camp. These are beautiful, moss-draped, shady sites, and you can camp with your car and have a campfire.

Ticket prices go up to $165 on Thursday  and cost $175 at the gate. On Nov. 10-11 there will be two prefest shows in the music park’s  restaurant and bar for an additional charge. You can also reserve cabins or campsites with water and electric and rent golf carts for additional charges.
