Hip-hop networking summit hits the Ritz

Musicians know about the merits of social networking. But every once in awhile, it's good to get out from behind the computer screen and put in some good old-fashion face time. Thursday's your chance at the sixth annual Tampa Music Conference, "Central Florida's Premier Networking Event." It goes down at the Ritz Ybor from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Here's the sked:

4 p.m. Check-in and networking hour

5 p.m. Welcome and producer's listening section

6:30 p.m. Performances including rappers Dynasty, Donny Da Don, Prophit and teenage beatboxing phenom LuckeyMonkey

7:20 p.m. Panel discussion with music industry execs, singer Sean Kingston (above), Wild 98.7's DJ Christion and more, moderated by Orlando

9:30 p.m. More performances: TMP, T-Raw and Militant Military

And because musicians are nocturnal, there's an after-party in the Ritz from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Then go home, sleep it off, wake up at noon, log on to MySpace and friend everyone you met at the event.

But don't throw away that conference badge just yet! Bring it to Crowbar at 9 p.m. Friday for free admission to the day-after party. More networking. More merriment. And more performances.

Conference tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Here's how to get yours.
