The Hold Steady move free concert to (where else?) Ybor City
The Hold Steady in Ybor City. It just makes so much more sense.
The band has rescheduled its free, Jim Beam-sponsored concert that was originally planned for June 4 at Jannus Landing. Now the show will take place on July 2 at the Ritz Ybor. So yeah, expect a killer party.
In a statement, Jim Beam blamed the postponement on "unforseen circumstances." A Jim Beam spokeswoman told tbt* that the recent arrest of Jannus Landing honcho John C. "Jack" Bodziak on tax charges was not a factor.
The band seems to love dropping the words "Ybor City" into many of their songs (Killer Parties, Slapped Actress, Most People are DJs) so maybe it's just fate.
And good news for GreyMarket -- looks like they're free on July 2, so maybe they'll get to hold onto their gigs as openers.
If you got your tickets online, you'll be notified about the new date. All previously issued tickets will be honored at the new show.
Here's the original story on the postponement of the show.
