Hot Chelle Rae coming to the State Theatre in St. Petersburg

Hot Chelle Rae are no strangers to the Tampa Bay music scene. In July, they opened for We The Kings at the State Theatre, and in October, they played with The Script at Ruth Eckerd Hall.

But ever so slowly, ever so gradually, the Nashville pop group has become a legit artist to watch on a national level, thanks to the so-dumb-it's-brilliant smash Tonight Tonight and its even-dumber-yet-even-more-brilliant follow-up, I Like It Like That. Now that their breakthrough album Whatever is on record store shelves, it's time for Hot Chelle Rae to break out on their own.

Hot Chelle Rae will perform at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg on March 25, alongside Electric Touch. Tickets are $16-$19, and they go onsale Friday, Dec. 9. Click here for details.

While it might be too soon to call Hot Chelle Rae next year's Foster the People -- the young pop-rock band that suddenly becomes a household name thanks to one or two mainstream hits -- we wouldn't put it past them. And we wouldn't be surprised if this show sells out.
