Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain talks religion, 'Eddie' and a possible Florida rock supergroup

Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain is a character. In a short but zany interview in advance of the group's concert this weekend at the St. Pete Times Forum, he laughed his way through a series of quick-hit topics, including the band's custom Boeing 737; a possible supergroup with Cheap Trick's Robin Zander and AC/DC's Brian Johnson; and the significance of the band's skeleton mascot, "Eddie the Head":

Without a doubt he's the biggest star in the band. If we don't get Eddie on the stage, there's a riot! Eddie's really the marketing tool of the band, the mascot of Iron Maiden. We're okay with that. Eddie is really all right. We've had one or two T-shirts with our faces on the cover, and let's just say they ain't sold as well as the ones with Eddie.

Iron Maiden performs at 8 p.m. Sunday at the St. Pete Times Forum. Tickets are $32.25-$55. Click here for details.
