It's been a wild ride this past couple of years for Aaron Gillespie, the Tarpon Springs singer and drummer who was a founding member of Christian metalcore band Underoath and his poppier side project, The Almost.

He parted ways with Underoath. He discovered a passion for food blogging. He even apparently cut his hair. And now, he's about to gain a lot more listeners, thanks to the music monolith known as iTunes.

To mark the release of his solo debut album, Anthem Song, Gillespie's single We Were Made For You is this week's free iTunes Discovery Download, a giveaway designed to introduce new music to a national audience. Past Discovery Download honorees include Scissor Sisters, Passion Pit, Sleigh Bells and Iration.

We Were Made For You is an unapologetic Christian rock anthem, but don't let that scare away you secular listeners. Anthem Song has been receiving rave reviews from mainstream sources. Alternative Press gave it four stars, writing: "Channeling his inner U2, Gillespie wraps up-tempo numbers like Hosanna and We Were Made For You in a sea of shimmering piano, delayed guitar riffs and soaring choruses, but counters the pop charm with a number of heartbreakingly honest acoustic-based songs."
