Jannus Live plans 'Monsters of Sludge' oil spill benefit concert

"Monsters of Sludge" wouldn't be a bad name for the people in charge of stopping the BP gulf oil spill.

In fact, it's the name of an oil spill benefit concert that'll take place June 25 at Jannus Live. It's a strong lineup of local classic rock, ska and psychedelia. Tickets are a $10 donation, which will go to a couple of appropriate charities to be determined.

The lineup:

-- Victims of Circumstance, one of the area's top ska bands, who were recently scheduled to tour Europe with the Voodoo Glow Skulls before the tour got canceled.

-- Classic rock powerhouse Greg Billings Band, who headlined the first concert at Jannus Live.

-- Pitbull Toddler, a garage band headed by 102.5 The Bone DJ Cowhead.

-- Goth-groove-psychedelic band Sonic Erotica.

-- Orange Hour, a former Soundcheck Artist of the Day who've made a habit of landing big opening gigs.

-- St. Pete Rockers No King.

Sounds kinda like this is the second edition of the Marmalade Music Series, only this one has an oil-spill theme. You can get a ticket for admission from Daddy Kool, Detroit Liquors or other locations; it'll be available on Ticketmaster soon. Or you can donate at the gate. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 7 p.m.
