Kris Kristofferson coming to the Tampa Theatre
It's always a pleasure to announce a concert at the Tampa Theatre -- even more so when it's a show by a bona fide legend.
Gruff-as-sandpaper country singer, songwriter and actor Kris Kristofferson will perform at the historic Tampa venue at 8 p.m. May 10. It's a rare show, as Kristofferson hasn't even sniffed these parts in ages, aside from a 2007 concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota. Tickets are scheduled to go onsale for $39.50 and $49.50 at noon Friday (4/1).
The Oscar-nominated Country Music Hall of Famer is known for hits like Me and Bobby McGee and Help Me Make It Through The Night, Kristofferson was most recently in the public eye when he and onetime lovah Barbra Streisand co-presented the Album of the Year Grammy to Arcade Fire. And let's not forget that he'll appear in this fall's A Dolphin Tale, filmed in and around Clearwater. But for our money, we're most fond of Kristofferson as the merciless crime boss in the Mel Gibson movie Payback. Underrated flick.
