Laurie Berkner talks writing children's music, performing for her family and getting kids to dance

The Laurie Berkner Band's concert on Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall won’t be a sit-down affair.

“Kids should feel free to get up and participate and move around,” said Laurie Berkner by phone. The superstar kiddie-music group will bust out older, zoolicious hits like We Are the Dinosaurs — freeing everyone’s inner brontosaurus — and newer ones like Party Day, from new the band’s DVD of the same name, in which four bugs hit the beach.

The Laurie Berkner Band performs at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. Tickets are $28-$38. Click here for details.
