Lilith Fair 2010 coming to Tampa
We could get all high and mighty and crack a few jokes about today's announcement that the 2010 Lilith Fair tour is coming to Tampa. But let's face it -- we here at SoundcheckCorp. are SO children of the '90s, and we are SO going to this show.
Yes, the Lilith Fair Web site now has Tampa listed among the cities its revamped tour will hit in 2010. Now, details about the tour are very, very scant at this point, so we don't know where the show will be (probably the Ford Amphitheatre), or who will be on the bill. For now, let's just go ahead and say Sarah McLachlan, above, will be the headliner. That feels safe.
So far, an absolutely crackerjack lineup of folksy femme fatales have been confirmed for at least part of Lilith Fair 2010, including: Sheryl Crow, Emmylou Harris, Loretta Lynn, Norah Jones, Colbie Caillat, Miranda Lambert, Beth Orton, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Heart, Indigo Girls, Tegan and Sara, Cat Power, La Roux, Lights, Corrine Bailey Rae and Mary J. Blige. There are even some guys lined up to perform, if you count the bands Sugarland, Gossip and Metric.
(Not listed so far: Soundcheck's close personal friend Paula Cole. Boo!)
Only a few of these artists will be on each bill, so don't get your hopes up for a Lilith megashow featuring all of them. More tour announcements -- including, presumably, the initial lineup for each city -- are due in the coming weeks.
Believe it or not, Lilith Fair never came to Tampa back in the '90s. The closest it got was Orlando in 1998, when the bill included McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Queen Latifah and Bonnie Raitt.
