Mac Miller coming to Jannus Live in St. Petersburg
These are apparently the glory days of white-boy hip hop.
There's Alabama MC Yelawolf, who signed to Eminem's Shady Records and toured with Lil Wayne. There's Seattle's Grieves, who whose new debut album Together/Apart is packed with confessional lyrics and jazzy beats, courtesy of producer and collaborator Budo. All of the above are part of this year's Vans Warped Tour.
And then there's Pittsburgh frat-rap kid Mac Milller. Whether he's for real or not, he's got a passionate fan base -- he sold out a jam-packed show at the State Theatre in May, and he did it well in advance.
So it's no surprise he wasted no time plotting a return trip to the Sunshine City.
According to concert promoters AEG Live, Miller will return to St. Pete on Nov. 22, with a concert at Jannus Live -- and as you may know, Jannus Live does not mess around when it comes to hip-hop shows (50 Cent, Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Curren$y, Tech N9ne and many others).
At least one prominent Pittsburgher says haters should get on board the Mac Miller bandwagon.
"I think he’s totally legit," Gregg "Girl Talk" Gillis told us in May. "He’s a legit rapper, but he’s not necessarily rapping about selling drugs or anything like that. He’s not presenting an image that’s not true in any way."
Tickets will cost $22 on the day of the show. Advance tickets will go onsale Friday (7/22). Click here to get 'em.
