Marc Anthony talks acting, producing and 'American Idol'

Technically, Marc Anthony isn't coming to Orlando's Amway Center until Sept. 18. But the guy's a busy dude. Before he heads out on tour, Anthony is forging ahead with his career as an actor.

On Tuesday, he'll pop up on TNT's Hawthorne, playing detective Nick Renata. He's also the show's executive producer. Tbt*'s Eric Deggans caught up with Anthony by phone to talk about his work in television, but also found some time to talk music -- including his appearance on his wife's show, American Idol:

I did not want to be on Idol. I saw something happening with the sound, I didn’t like it, I called and said, 'Can I just address this?’ All of a sudden they get pitchy when you give them the in-ear (monitors); I know exactly what’s going on. They finally convinced me (to go on camera), but it just made me anxious to see these talented kids that I know were suffering for no reason whatsoever.
