Matthew Morrison cancels Tampa concert; still playing Orlando, though
Bad news, Gleeks: Matthew Morrison has canceled his July 10 concert at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. Those who purchased tickets can get refunds at point of purchase.
Oh, but that's not the half of it. Wait'll you hear why he canceled. From the Straz's official announcement:
In what was described as an opportunity “too big to miss,” Morrison has announced that he will join the NKOTBSB summer tour as a special guest. The tour move means postponing some of his own solo shows but gives Morrison a larger platform, performing in arenas across the United States, to join the most talked about tour of the summer.
Yes. Glee star Matthew Morrison feels like the chance to tour with New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys is "too big to miss." Now, not to take anything away from those fine young men -- we do know how much Mr. Schu likes working with lads who can sing -- we have to cry bogus on this one. Morrison was already headlining a 2,800-seat theater in Tampa. Why does he need to step down to the opening slot for two bands who were much bigger in 1990 and 2000 than they are today?
As if to rub salt in the wound, the NKOTBSB tour isn't coming to Tampa this summer ... but it IS coming to Orlando's Amway Center on July 22. And yes, Morrison is on the bill. So if you're desperate for a glimpse of your precious Mr. Schu, you'll have to man up and make the roadie to Orlando. Click here to buy tickets.
