It's officially out there! Tbt*'s 2010 Ultimate Local Music Guide hit the streets Friday morning, featuring blurbs and profiles of more than 100 Tampa Bay bands, singers, rappers and DJs. (Click here to find a copy of tbt* near you.)

If you missed the day-by-day unveiling this week, this year's top 10 Ultimate Local Artists are:

The Grecian Urns: Six college-age Pinellas friends and siblings who specialize in delicate indie-folk harmonies.

GreyMarket: Two Tampa musicians who create an arena-rock-sized sound and spectacle through a guitar, a drum and a laptop.

King of Spain: An intimate Tampa bedroom-pop project that has landed a gig two straight years at Austin’s South By Southwest Music Festival.

Laws: A Spring Hill rapper with eclectic musical tastes and a slew of heavy-hitting producers lining up to work with him.

Light Yourself on Fire: A thinking-man’s metal band with blazing intensity and unconventional artistic flourishes.

The Jim Morey Band: A quirky jazz-folk quartet whose sound ranges from swing to dixieland to pop.

Nervous Turkey: An explosive Tampa blues-rock trio that’s performing at this year’s South by Southwest.

The Semis: A St. Petersburg garage-rock band that released a sunny, career-best album, Back to the Beach, in 2009.

Set It Off: Five young North Pinellas pop-punks who are developing a national following thanks to nonstop touring and online self-promotion.

Sons of Hippies: This Sarasota trio serves up a sexy blend of psychedelic alt-rock.

Kudos, one and all!

If you're unfamiliar with these bands, we'll give you a chance to see them in the flesh. On April 17, tbt* will host its fourth annual Ultimate Music Showcase at Skipper's Smokehouse. This year's lineup: Sons of Hippies, GreyMarket, the Semis, the Grecian Urns, King of Spain and the Jim Morey Band. If you're a regular reader of this blog, that means you either (A) love local music, or (B) love live music. And trust us when we say this show offers the best of both worlds. (Click each band's name for a review of one of their concerts.)

We'll have much more about this show a little later, but for now, the show is 6 p.m. to midnight April 17 at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, Tampa. Tickets are $5 advance, $10 day of show at skipperssmokehouse.com. You cannot beat that deal with a stick, people! Where else would you rather be that night, at Bon Jovi? Colbie CaillatPshaw! Pshaw, we say!

Finally, to celebrate our 2010 Ultimate Local Music Guide, tbt* is once again throwing a contest for readers. You can win a free HD Digital Radio, courtesy of WMNF-88.5, plus free tickets to the Ultimate Music Showcase. To enter, simply e-mail your name and contact info to giveaways@tbt.com. That's it. Couldn't be simpler.

Once again, thanks to all the artists in this year's tbt* Ultimate Local Music Guide. (And to Julie Garisto, who profiled many of the artists; and Luis Santana, who photographed them; and Don Morris, who designed the excellent cover art you see above.)
