Miranda Cosgrove coming to the Tampa Theatre

Miranda Cosgrove is one of those things that we adults have a hard time keeping track of. It's like, is she a country singer? A celebrity chef? A bestselling romance novelist?

Then you see her at something like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and you remember: Oh yeah. It's iCarly.

Cosgrove is the titular star of the smash Nickelodeon sitcom, in which she plays a teenager with her own web series. The 17-year-old actor is also a pop singer (what kind of teenage star would she be if she wasn't?), and is ramping up her performance schedule in the coming months, as she prepares to release her first solo album, Sparks Fly.

On Feb. 16, Cosgrove is coming to Tampa. She'll perform at 7 p.m. at the Tampa Theatre. Tickets go onsale Friday, though we don't have the prices just yet. Click here and here for details.

We know what you're thinking? What is Cosgrove doing at the historic Tampa Theatre -- and just three days after "An Acoustic Evening with Matisyahu," no less? We agree, it's an ambitious, unexpected and ultimately laudable choice of venue. If she wants to be taken seriously as an adult performer, she'll have to skip the state fairs and mall food courts in favor of big-girl venues like this one.

If nothing else, picking the Tampa Theater as her venue has done one good thing. It's ensured we'll remember her name from here on out.
