More bad news for Jannus Landing: Friday's Emery concert canceled
The last thing Jannus Landing needs now is upset music fans. But there were some disappointed fans outside the venue's gates Friday night, when they found out a concert with Emery and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster was canceled at the last minute.
Employees at the nearby Tamiami bar and Detroit Liquors said the cancellation was due to low ticket sales and/or sound problems, and that refunds would be available at the point of purchase.
We'd heard a rumor Friday that property owners, who are trying to evict tax-troubled John C. "Jack" Bodziak, who runs the actual concert venue, had shut off the power to Jannus Landing Courtyard. And on their Twitter feed Friday morning, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster posted the following:
But as late as 3:30 p.m., with buses and trailers parked outside the venue, we were told the show was still on. Even now, at 9 p.m. Friday, it's still listed on Jannus Landing's Web site. And there are several disappointed fans leaving questioning comments on Emery's MySpace page.
On Friday night, with St. Pete's First Friday taking place around the corner on Central Avenue, the power appeared to be working at the Tamimi and other connected properties, including the office directly behind the Jannus Landing stage.
More details to come as we get them.
And then there's this, from Emery's Twitter:
Sorry about the St.Pete show everyone...some venue complications. See you others in ATL tonight!
