More bad news for Lilith Fair: Norah Jones playing Tampa's Straz Center, not Lilith, in August
There is still no official word on whether Tampa's Aug. 11 Lilith Fair tour stop will be canceled, as some rumors have suggested. But today, things are looking a lot more iffy.
The Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa has announced that Norah Jones will perform there on Aug. 11, the same night Lilith is scheduled for the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre across town. This jives with the report that Jones had canceled all of her Lilith Fair appearances, including Tampa.
On her website, Jones offers this dispiriting news: "Unfortunately, the last leg of the Lilith Fair Tour has been canceled. The good news is that Norah has already scheduled replacement shows in the area."
Mind you, the cancelations haven't been confirmed by Lilith Fair or Live Nation officials, and tickets for a Tampa Lilith Fair date are still on sale. But even if Lilith does continue, losing Jones as a headliner poses a significant obstacle. If ticket sales are as weak as reported, the tour will need to work doubly hard to book another big name for the top of the bill.
Jones also announced an Aug. 10 show in Orlando, at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. Tickets for Norah Jones at the Straz Center are $45. Click here for details.
