Neil Giraldo, Pat Benatar's husband and guitarist, talks 'Rock of Ages,' touring with Journey and more
With hits like Love is a Battlefield and Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Pat Benatar is the name you know. But her husband, guitarist and musical collaborator, Neil Giraldo, is an equal part of her success -- which is why they're now sharing billing on their nationwide tour with Journey and Loverboy, which hits Tampa's 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre on Friday.
"We've always been a partnership; just in the early days, because of management and things of that nature didn't want that to happen, it was a very strange thing," Giraldo said in a recent phone interview. "Patricia always thought it felt odd to be on stage — considering all the things that I do and what it means to the band — to not have my name there. ... I don't care. I'm going up there as me and coming off as me. I'm hitting hard and everybody's happy. It's a good life."
The show is at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre, 4802 U.S. 301 N, Tampa. Tickets are $24-$166. Click here for details.
