New venue alert: The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts
We probably should have seen this cominglast month, when the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts hosted a "Hippie Hop" to commemorate its new Woodstock-themed exhibition, Burk Uzzle's Woodstock and Other Americana.
For a few weeks at least, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts is hosting a series of "'60s-style music and ambience" for a new series called Flashback @ FMOPA. Shows take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays at the museum, 200 N Tampa St., Tampa.
The lineup for the next three weeks is as follows:
Oct. 22: Ronny Elliott
Oct. 29: Rebekah Pulley (above)
Nov. 5: Steve Grant
There will be wine, brownies and brie available for noshing, as well as a psychedelic light show each night. Admission is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.
If you've ever been to a concert at a museum -- and we have! -- you know these types of events are fun ways to hear some good tunes and take in a little local culture, all at once. So head on out. And shine on, you crazy diamonds.
