This New Year's Eve, turn the clocks back to 1979 at Skipper's

Well, here's an innovative way to spend New Year's Eve. Rather than looking ahead to 2010, WMNF is looking back to 1979 with their newst tribute concert concept.

The WMN Tribute to 1979 will feature a slew of local performers imitating some of the coolest acts of that year, including: Ted Lukas and the Misled as Tom Petty; Sons of Hippies as Blondie; Johnny Zoom Cheerlead Squad as Elvis Costello, Rebekah Pulley and the Reluctant Prophets as SupertrampPalantine as The Clash and the reunited Barely Pink, above, as Cheap Trick. (Hey, maybe they can convince Robin Zander to come over and join in!)

And as if you needed another reason to sign on ... the show-stopping countdown to midnight will be conducted by Jeremy Gloff performing as Stevie Nicks. Totally worth the price of admission, we must say.

Tickets will be $30-$40 (including party favors, champagne and breakfast) and will go onsale soon at Skipper's and Get the linup of performers (and who they'll be covering) after the jump.
