News: Blue October, Jay Reatard, 'Oates' and more

-- Coming to the Ritz Ybor on Halloween night: Blue October. (Hey, that's in October! We just got that.) Tickets are $25. Go here for details. UPDATE: Uh, scratch that.

-- And how's about this shizz: Garage prince Jay Reatard, above, is coming to Crowbar on Dec. 5! RAWK.

-- And Del the Funky Homosapien at Czar on Dec. 4! RAP.

-- John Oates is performing at Freedom to Fly, a concert that's part of the annual Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Aviation Summit Nov. 6 at the Tampa Convention Center. Yes: Oates is performing at a pilot's convention. And yes: It's just "Oates." No Hall. But Montel Williams will be there, and heaven knows we've all been waiting for a Montel & Oates collaboration. Tickets are $25-$30. Go here for details.

-- Rounding out our coming events coverage: Saxophonist and singer Mindi Abair is coming to the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater on Feb. 19. Tickets are $43.50-$58.50. Go here for details.

-- Back from a successful trip to New York for some shows, Klik is back in town. They've got a gig Nov. 6 at Gasoline Alley. Check it here.

-- You know that Kid Rock cruise out of Tampa that Sean Daly told you about weeks ago? Uncle Kracker has been added to the lineup. Shocker!

-- If Raheem Morris was looking for a way to energize his 0-6 Buccaneers, banning Jay-Z, T.I. and Kanye West from the locker room is probably not the way to go. I assume players can still blast Sufjan Stevens, though, right?

-- Heading up to Gainesville for the Fest '09? Go to Transitions Art Gallery first for an all-out pre-party next week.

-- Want to go on tour with the Genitorturers? Here's your chance.

-- Want to win a chance to cook dinner for Aaron Gillespie of Underoath and The Almost? Here's your chance.

-- Want to download the Basiqs' album This Lie for free? Here's your chance. (Man, we're giving you guys a lot of chances today.)

-- Shocking news about one of Tampa Bay's best up-and-coming bands: Glasgow is changing their name to Marksmen!

-- Finally, what would a news roundup be without an update on Matt Hires? His standout Honey Let Me Sing You A Song is up for mtvU's The Freshmen this week. Voting ends Friday at noon. And tune into Grey's Anatomy on Thursday night -- Matt's track Out of the Dark will be on during the show.
