-- The most brutal tour in the history of metal will not be coming to Tampa Bay. Mastodon and Dethklok will come to Hard Rock Live in Orlando on Nov. 7, but no closer.

-- Same with the Mountain Goats and Final Fantasy: Orlando (The Social), and that's it. Sigh.

-- A few months ago, Tampa ska outfit Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso won a contest to have their music featured on Tijuana Flats' Web site. It's happening this month. Head to, and you'll hear Johnny Cakes' song Long Island Iced Tea Island. Cool for them.

-- Thanks to their new video for Stay Young, Bradenton's We the Kings are tearing up the Twitterverse. "#hairwhips" is one of Twitter's top trending topics. Just watch the video -- and Danny Duncan's hairwhips at 0:34 -- and you'll see what we mean.

-- Unfortunate news out of Orlando: Talented indie-popsters Band Marino have broken up.

-- Tickets to Leonard Cohen's Oct. 19 concert at the St. Pete Times Forum will be priced at $46.75, $71.75, $125 and $250, with VIP packages starting at $299. They go onsale Monday, Aug. 10, via Ticketmaster.
