Next Big Thing 11: Young the Giant, Awolnation, fun. announced; full lineup coming Monday

It's almost radio festival time in Tampa Bay.

Yesterday we got the lineup Wild 94.1's Last Damn Show 13 on Nov. 18 at the St. Pete Times Forum. We have it on good authority that 93.3-FLZ has already booked several acts for this year's Jingle Ball on Dec. 11 at the Forum. And today, we found out the first three artists on the lineup for 97X Next Big Thing 11Young The Giant, Awolnation and fun.

Young the Giant, above, is one of this year's breakout alt-rock bands, having performed on the MTV Video Music Awards and toured with Incubus (they were just in Tampa on Sept. 18). It's no surprise they're booked. And Awolnation was an obvious choice, too; the inscrutable electronic art-rock act has already played the Memorial Day Backyard BBQ and a Freebie Weebie show for 97X. Curiously punctuated indie rockers fun. will add a little bit of melody to the mix.

The other headline of the day: This year's Next Big Thing will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa. The daylong festival is normally on a Sunday. Plan accordingly.

The station says the full lineup for Next Big Thing 11 will be unveiled over the course of the day on Monday, and of course we'll bring it to you then. For now, some predictions (maybe even spoilers!) are after the jump...

-- We're going out on a limb and calling Ocala's A Day To Remember as one of this year's headliners. They're already booked to perform at another radio gig, the X102.9 Big Ticket, on Dec. 4 in Jacksonville. This makes too much sense not to happen.

-- Looking at the Jacksonville Big Ticket lineup (which includes Young the Giant) gives us some other clues. That show's other headliner is Sublime With Rome, which would confirm one rumor that's already out there. Taking Back Sunday is also on the bill, which might seem to confirm this tweet

-- We've already gone on record saying we think indie rock collective Grouplove is a logical choice. They're favorites of 97X, and have said the station was one of the first to play their music. And guess what? They're also playing Jacksonville's Big Ticket. HMMM.

-- Mastodon might be too heavy for Next Big Thing, but come on, their fall tour ends Dec. 1 in Orlando. A tour-capping appearance at Next Big Thing on Dec. 3 almost makes too much sense. Get it done!

-- Obviously, Sick Puppies and Paper Tongues. It wouldn't be a 97X concert without either of them.

What do you guys say? Who do you think will be announced on Monday? Who do you WANT to see announced?
