OK Go coming to Crowbar in Ybor City (plus amazing 'This Too Shall Pass' video!)
When OK Go's new video for This Too Shall Pass hit the Internet yesterday, bloggers everywhere went into collective pants-wetting mode. Like their videos for A Million Ways and Here It Goes Again, This Too Shall Pass is poisted to become a viral sensation, putting the band squarely at the forefront of American time-wasting technology.
The video, above, presents the band caught in an incredibly complex, incredibly pointless Rube Goldberg machine that according to MTV News took four months of planning and countless runthroughs to get just right. It's quite a step up from dancing on treadmills. But the result is no less impressive. And the song is actually quite awesome -- think the Flaming Lips at their most joyous.
Apparently the video was released yesterday to help drum up interest in their new tour. And today we learn that OK Go will be coming to Tampa -- specifically, they'll be at Ybor City's Crowbar on May 14, alongside Earl Greyhound. Tickets are $15. Click here for details.
It's not like OK Go can bring the This Too Shall Pass machine on the road with them, but they might bust out their viral antics at some point -- a couple of years ago, when the band played 97X Next Big Thing, instead of playing A Million Ways, they just did the dance from the video. Odd, but fun.
