One dead, more injured in shooting following Farruko concert at Boomerang in Brandon
Boomerang Martini Club had a big night planned on Friday, with a concert by Puerto Rican reggaeton star Farruko. It ended in violence, as one person was killed and at least two more were injured during a shooting at the club.
Denny Vargas, a promoter for the event, said he heard about 20 shots fired. He said he saw one of the victims run in front of the building and collapse with a leg injury. When it was over, Vargas went back to the parking lot and saw another victim on the ground.
Though the club has witnessed incidents of violence over the past few years, Vargas said the incident was surprising.
"We've had fights here and there but nothing like that," he said.
