One night only: Catch Underoath, Blink-182 and Katy Perry on the big screen
We've never mustered up the desire to attend one of those special "one-night-only" theatrical events you see advertised from time to time in movie theaters -- you know, "A night with the Moscow Ballet!" or "The ultimate drumline championship!" or something like that.
But then again, we've never seen one of those events where one of the headliners is a Tampa band.
Christian metal heroes Underoath are among the bands getting top billing for The Vans Warped Tour 15th Anniversary Celebration, a concert movie featuring some of the top performances from the Warped Tour's first 15 years. The event screens Thursday, Sept. 17, at theaters around the country, and also includes performances by Blink-182, Katy Perry, Ice T, Bad Religion, All American Rejects, NoFX, Pennywise and more.
As many of you know, Underoath are Warped veterans; their trek this summer was their fourth spin as a headlining act on the tour. It'll be interesting to see how they sound on the big screen.
All showtimes are at 8 p.m. Thursday at the following theaters:
Regency 20, Brandon
Lakeside 18, Lakeland
Sarasota 12, Sarasota
Hollywood Stadium 20, Sarasota
Citrus Park 20, Tampa
Grove 16, Wesley Chapel
