We mentioned this a few weeks ago, but in light of his victory at Sunday night's Academy Awards, it bears repeating: Country singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham is coming to Tampa.

The 29-year-old Texan, who scored a win (along with T-Bone Burnett) in the category of Best Original Song for the song The Weary Kind, is part of the inaugural Country Throwdown Tour, which kicks off May 14 in Tampa. Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson and Jack Ingram are among the many other artists on the bill.

Bingham's star is on the rise thanks to his contribution to the film Crazy Heart, which also earned Jeff Bridges the Oscar for Best Actor. In Crazy Heart, Bridges and Colin Farrell perform versions of the song, though Bingham and his band, the Dead Horses, appear in the film as Bridges' band. But it's Bingham's version that appears on the Crazy Heart soundtrack. (Click here to listen to The Weary Kind.)

A former bull rider whose music has been compared to Steve Earle, Ryan Adams, Willie Nelson and Jay Farrar, Bingham will go into the studio this month to record a follow-up to 2009's Roadhouse Sun. Then it's off to the road for the rest of this year -- and don't expect him to bring his Oscar trophy with him.

"To me, it’s just kind of like another trophy, you know?" Bingham told Vanity Fair before the Academy Awards. "I’m not really one that gets excited about wining blue ribbons and stuff like that. It’s great, but at the end of the day, it’s back to reality and back to the grind of writing songs and making music."

At least Bingham gave one of the sweetest Oscar speeches of the night, telling his wife: "I love you more than rainbows." Awwww!

Individual tickets to the Country Throwdown Tour are not on sale yet, but the show is part of Live Nation's 2010 Country Megaticket, featuring concerts by Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Sugarland and more. Click here for details.
