Parachute playing free concert at Push Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg
We may lose the remaining shards of our hipster cred by writing this, but one of the acts that most pleasantly surprised us at last weekend's Orlando Calling festival was Virginia pop-rock act Parachute.
Their made-for-TV sheen isn't what you'd expect to find at a festival, but we have to give them credit for a tight, energetic, kinda dynamic set. It's radio-ready pop-rock, yes, but it was quite good. We feel no need to defend our positive review from the too-cool-for-school crowd.
So we're intrigued by this news: On Dec. 3, Parachute, known for singles like She Is Love and Under Control, will play a free concert at Push Ultra Lounge. It's totally free for general admission, first-come, first-served. There are a couple of ways to guarantee seating, though: (1) Reserve a table directly from Push (click here), or (2) win VIP or meet-and-greet passes from Play 98.7, which is sponsoring the show. The station will be giving them away on-air and online the week before the show. Click here for updates.
Push is a nice place to see a rock concert (see our reviews of The Airborne Toxic Event and Pete Yorn), so it's cool that they're doing it there. Maybe we'll get to see more of their set than we did at Orlando Calling.
