Photos: Vibe Festival brings heavy beats (and noise compliants) to St. Pete
On Sunday night, DJs David Guetta (above), Roger Sanchez, Robbie Rivera and more brought a nonstop, 10-hour swirl of massive beats to St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park for the inaugural Vibe Festival. Some 4,000 people showed up.
Not only that, the music was apparently so loud that the city has been dealiing with irate callers who could hear the music, no joke, from halfway across St. Petersburg. City officials said organizers had a permit, so technically they didn't violate any noise ordinances.
Your humble Soundcheck editor lives about five minutes from Vinoy Park, and can confirm that the beats were audible from his couch inside his home. Another Soundcheck confidant said she heard the music at 54th Avenue N. That puts the noise levels on par with those of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. But we digress.
