Need a little culture? Check out AMP@620, Studio@620's new monthly showcase of art, music and poetry all in one evening. (Get it? AMP?)

The event is held on the last Monday of every month. The doors open at 8 p.m. for minglers to enjoy music, art and a cash bar. A featured musician or poet performs at 9 p.m. AMP kicked off in September with Tampa spoken word artist Wally B as the headliner. Organizer and host Jason "Jay" Bruzzichesi said about 70 people attended the first event, and he expects an even bigger crowd to stop by for the upcoming lineup:

Oct. 26: Peter Meinke, above, St. Petersburg's poet laureate

Nov. 30: Blu Bailey, an Orlando spoken word artist and founder of SpokenWordPress.org

Dec. 28: Kevin Sandbloom, a blues/funk musician

Bruzzichesi, a 1993 graduate of St. Pete High, organizes and hosts AMP. He and 2000 St. Pete High graduate Brian Duncan also host Resurrection, a spoken word open night event that's held at the Lobby on Central Avenue every Wednesday from 10:30 p.m. to midnight. Poets and musicians are welcome to perform at the free event, which is in its eighth year. Bruzzichesi deejays the showcase under the name DJ Sporaticus.

For more information, or to perform or have your artwork displayed at AMP, call (727) 895-6620. $5 suggested donation.
