Ra Ra Riot, Spam Allstars, Lee Fields added to Gasparilla Music Festival lineup
Did you find yourself less than bowled over by the initial lineup announcement for the inaugural Gasparilla Music Festival, March 10 in downtown Tampa? Nothing against Deer Tick or the Rebirth Brass Band, of course ... but maybe you were hoping for a little more?
Well, here's something more: Ra Ra Riot.
The indie-chamber-pop group out of Syracuse, N.Y. are now probably the biggest band on the bill, and we have no complaints about that -- Ra Ra Riot are ra-ra-riotously catchy (sorry). Songs like Shadowcasting and Too Dramatic are guaranteed to get any scholarly-looking indie kid dancing. We caught them at last fall's Deluna Festival in Pensacola, and came away by their sparkly melodies and even sparklier violins.
Also added to the bill: Miami Latin/jazz/electronic/fusion act Spam Allstars, who are familiar faces at Crowbar; and funk/soul singer Lee Fields. Both acts will definitely rachet up the party atmosphere at Curtis Hixon Park.
Advance tickets are still $15. Get the full Gasparilla Music Festival lineup (so far) after the jump.
Ra Ra Riot, Deer Tick, Rebirth Brass Band, Lee Fields and the Expressions, Spam Allstars, Tortured Soul, the Lee Boys, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart, Geri X, Have Gun Will Travel, Kaleigh Baker, Rich Whiteley and Infinite Groove Orchestra
