Review: Alicia Keys at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa
Alicia Keys' Freedom Tour hit Tampa Sunday night at the St. Pete Times Forum, bringing with it an array of hits like Fallin', Diary, No One, Empire State of Mind and If I Ain't Got You.
Thanks to a setlist full of hits, a huger than huge voice and "the most amazing keytar in the history of keytars, a shiny beauty shaped like an antique key," Keys turned the imposing St. Pete Times Forum into her own personal soundstage. Writes Stephanie Hayes in her concert review:
Keys' "Freedom Tour" stop in Tampa Sunday didn't have the acrobatic circus of a Britney Spears show or the bethonged psychosis of a Lady Gaga spectacle, but it wasn't coffeehouse fare, either.
She thrilled the small crowd of 7,375 grown folks early, belting out a juiced rendition of You Don't Know My Name, and her very first hit, Fallin. Thrusting and sexy and flanked by backup dancers wearing militant Sgt. Pepper jackets, Keys was confident, her voice pristine through the heavy backing beats.
