Robyn coming to the Ritz Ybor in Tampa

If you want to dance the first week in November, there's only one place in Tampa to be: The Ritz Ybor.

Swedish pop star Robyn is coming to the Ritz Ybor on Nov. 7, just three days after La Roux and two days after Wiz Khalifa.

This news was first brought to our attention via Pitchfork, but Robyn's hot mess of a website has yet to make mention of it, and we can't find it on Ticketmaster or the Ritz Ybor's website or anywhere else.

This is not an officially Soundcheck-sanctioned Hip October Concert, but it might as well be.

You see, there was a time when Robyn was no different from Britney or Mandy or Christina or Jessica or any number of Spice Girls, best known for her ultra-sugary pop hits Show Me Love and Do You Know (What It Takes), both of which would have been on your little sister's iPod, had iPods existed in 1997.

But after years of sugar-pop, Robyn parted ways with her record label in about 2005, and started unleashing a series of ultra-danceable electro-pop singles that bloggers and sites like Pitchfork fawned over, and placed her somewhere around Lady Gaga or Gwen Stefani in the worldwide cool-girl rankings.

If you don't believe us, look for Robyn on this Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. She'll be performing, and everyone will probably be talking about it on Monday morning. Remember where you heard it first.
